However, data from Discogs can be transferred to Readerware by dragging and dropping. But if you own vinyl records, this isn't useful as records didn't have barcodes prior to 1979. These can be entered using the phone app. If you are better with other database software, exporting the data is what you want to do.Īs far as input goes, it does support barcodes. So how good your native reports are depends your skills with creating Web pages. Exporting the data is just a straight up data dump that is similar to queries in other databases. To extract the data, you can export it or create a user defined reports. Because the information is actual data, rather than simply text, it can be extracted. All of these fields are actually data fields on a table in the database. This includes purchase information that include purchase date, the seller and the price you paid. With each pressing you own, you can enter actual information of your choice. This is where ReaderwareAW is better than Discogs. But, you can't really do much else with that data. So if you want to add the price you paid for an pressing, you can easily add this Discogs. If you want to keep notes on individual pressings of recordings you own, you can add it to Discogs. I think Discogs is great, but, it only has minimal database functionality. I actually use ReaderwareAW in parallel with Discogs. I've only ever used audio recordings module. You only have to purchase the module you want. There are 3 different version, 1 for books, 1 for video and another for audio recordings. The AW version is actually a module of the overall Readerware suite. You track people checking out any items people have checked out. Readerware is a actually a library tracking system.
READERWARE MUSIC SOFTWARE
I will state that this software is pretty much overkill if you only need to track records and CD you own. I requested that they added the feature and they implemented it. When version 3 was released, you couldn't search by Catalog numbers only barcode. If there is a feature that you want, you can request it from the developers and they will actually implement improvements. So, they supported that version for almost 8 years. To give you an idea of how long they support a specific version of the software, version 3.0 was released in January of 2011.
READERWARE MUSIC UPGRADE
I upgrade because I want to support continued releases of the software. Your old version will continue to work even if you haven't upgraded. You do have to pay a discounted upgrade fee to the use latest version if you want continued support, but this is actually not required. I've been using ReaderwareAW since version 2. Since then the current release is Version 4.21. Version 4 was released in November of 2018. There are no renewal fees and the updates are supported for your version until Readerware decides to do a major overall. There is a standard version for $40 if you don't have the need for a smart phone app, but I recommend spending the extra $10. The specific version I use is ReaderwareAW Mobile an it costs $50. It isn't free, though, but it's not that expensive. Learn more about the complete Readerware system for cataloging your books, music and videos by visiting our web site.I use Readerware.
